Ram-type blowout preventers are intended for wellhead sealing both with and without pipes inside the well. Preventers allow to reciprocate the casing with sealed wellhead (within the limits of total joint or coupling), hanging of the casing on the rams and prevention of the casing from blowout under the influence of well pressure. The rams are operated by means of remote hydraulic control. Pipe arms provide sealing of the wellhead with pipes of various diameter inside the well, blind rams cover the hole in the absence of casing inside the well.
